Dan Sokolowski currently lives in Dawson City, in Canada's Yukon, and is the producer of the Dawson City International Short Film Festival. He has taught courses in 16mm filmmaking, animation and studio arts. He was a board member of the Independent Filmmakers Cooperative of Ottawa, the Canadian Film Institute and the Yukon Film Sciety. He is currently a member of the Dawson City Arts Soicety and the Yukon Film Society.
Dan's films have been shown at many film festivals and film events locally, nationally and internationally and has received grants from the Canada Council, Ontario Arts Council, CBC, IFCO and the Klondike Institute of Art and Culture and the Yukon Advanced Artist Award and the Yukon Film and Sound Commission.
In addition to his own films, Dan has worked on over 40 independent productions as cinematographer, animator, assistant director, lighting director and editor.
Allan was awarded a Yukon Film Society lifetime membership in 2021.
