Erin Cham Corbett

Erin Cham Corbett

Erin Cham Corbett (they/them) is a second-generation Chinese/Irish visual artist based in Whitehorse, Yukon, the traditional lands of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council and Kwanlin Dün First Nation. They use video art and installation as a conduit to explore culture, gratitude and belonging. They earned a BFA from Concordia University specializing in studio arts and are currently mentored by Doug Smarch Jr. in installation art. Often drawing from their mixed race, queer and settler experience, Corbett’s work delves into themes of connection to place, ancestry, and the intersectionality of identity. Often, through interactive elements, Corbett’s pieces invite individuals to explore their own heritage and how they move in this world. Recently, they have received an Advanced Artist Award and a Premier’s Award of Excellence for their artwork creation and contributions to arts and culture. Their work has been show at the Available Light Film Festival, and Theatre in the Bush in Whitehorse, Riverside Arts Festival in Dawson City and Three Shadows Photography in Beijing.
