Jayden Soroka
Jayden Soroka started life on the Canadian prairies but feels most at home with the people and in the wilds of the Yukon. An alumnus of the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity and with two decades of experience in the film industry, he has spent most of his life on set or in an edit bay. After his directorial debut in 2006 on the documentary “Under the Skin”, which took home the YFF coveted Golden Sheaf award, Jayden co-founded his first production company. After several years of commercial success he made the choice to dive back into film and television and 2009 he opened Pixelbox Studio – a production house focused on visual FX, animation and technology.
In 2015, after being in the Yukon for 5 years he was recognized as Yukon’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year and it wasn’t long before he partnered with Neil Macdonald and Dave Hamelin to unearth his newest endeavor – Outpost 31. Within the first two years of working together, Outpost 31 won Startup Canada’s Entrepreneurs of the North Award and in the same year they would travel to Cannes film Festival with their film “The Changeling”.
Jayden applies his creative prowess and his passion for success to every project Outpost 31 produces. With his most recent short “The Provider”, premiering at ALFF this year, which is now in a co-production with the NFB to develop a full length film, Jayden is pushing the creative and technological boundaries of what can be done in the North – developing courageous projects and opening up the Yukon to opportunities previously only available south of 60.
