Malkolm Boothroyd

Malkolm Boothroyd is from Whitehorse, Yukon, in Canada's north, and  grew up hiking and paddling through some of the world's most rugged and remote wild places. He loves finding art in nature and capturing images that portray wild places in their most beautiful moments.

He's been fascinated by birds and artwork since a young age, and first started taking photos when he was eight. His interest in photography took off when he was fifteen. That year he and his parents and bicycled from the Yukon to Florida, trying to find as many birds without burning fossil fuels, and advocating for climate action.

He's continued to combine photography with conservation work. Since 2018 he has worked with the Yukon chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society in Whitehorse. With CPAWS Yukon he's gotten to campaign on issues close to his heart, like protecting the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the Porcupine caribou herd, while exploring new places in the Dawson and Kluane regions. He hopes the images and videos he's captured in these places will help inspire conservation of these lands, and the people and wildlife who depend on them.
