Veronica Verkley (she/her) is a sculptor and media artist based near Dawson City Yukon, on the traditional territory of the Trondëk Hwëchin, who recently stepped down as faculty at Yukon SOVA to return to her practice in her bush cabin.
Ethereal, organic, and focused on animal forms, Veronica’s work shifts regularly between installation, animation, & kinetics. Parallel to her practice, Veronica has collaborated extensively in film, theatre & dance, with a focus on puppeteering & animatronics.
Exhibitions include: Olga Korper, Birganart (Birch Contemporary), Ecolage (Toronto public art commission), Mercer Union, A Space (Toronto); Ottawa Art Gallery (Northern Scene); Video Pool (Winnipeg), McMaster Museum of Art (Hamilton); Natural and Manufactured (ODD gallery), Yukon Arts Centre, OK Quoi? (New Brunswick), and the Esker Foundation Project Space (Calgary). Screenings include Tromsø Norway (Films from the North), Vancouver Film Festival (Yukon Women in Film), Yorkton (Saskatchewan), Australia, USA, and Japan.
